As kids WE collected pennies for fun. The little brown coins were fun to count and stack. WE could also use them as checkers or game pieces in board games WE made up.
Now WE collect them for rare errors on them. They might be worth something. The Holy Grail of pennies is the 1943 copper penny because that year the coins were steel ones.
WE thought WE had one 1943 copper penny that WE had sqirreled away in the 1980s before WE knew the '43 was worth a massive amount of money!
Back then WE just wanted to have the World War 2 pennies in our collection.
Time to look for that storage box!
